BOTHA’S Hill resident Belinda Henwood will be strutting her stuff once again on stage in the perfect family fare, Big Friendly Giant which runs at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre from June 21 to July 8.

She has been part of the performing community for over a decade and is a regular face in KickstArt shows, having performed in shows such as Popcorn, Dangerous Liaisons, Dracula, Boston Marriage, Table Manners, Cinderella, The Jungle Book, The Wizard of Oz, Little Shop of Horrors, Noises Off, Cabaret (2011), Snow White (2011) and Annie.

Apart from her acting career she is also the accordionist and singer for the South Jersey Pom-Poms.

Speaking about the play, Henwood said: “Ten-year-old Sophie is in for the adventure of a lifetime when she meets the Big Friendly Giant. Naturally scared at first, the young girl soon realises that the 24-foot behemoth is actually quite gentle and charming.

“As their friendship grows, Sophie’s presence attracts the unwanted attention of Bloodbottler, Fleshlumpeater and other giants. After travelling to London, Sophie and the BFG must convince the Queen of England to help them get rid of all the bad giants once and for all.”

Featuring quirky and inventive puppetry, and an all-star local cast, this is ideal fare for the July holidays.

The production stars Bryan Hiles, Belinda Henwood, Clare Mortimer, Daisy Spencer, Straw Nzimande and Lyle Buxton.

For schools’ performances, charity fundraisers or block bookings of 50 or more you may contact the KickstArt Theatre via e-mail at

An early bird special deal is also on offer for all shows where you can buy eight tickets and get two free. This offer is available through Computicket up until the first performance of each production.
