UPPER Highway resident poet Sfiso “MaFree” Gwala has been nominated in the Best Upcoming Poet category in the Live Your Dream South African Youth Awards.

The aim of these awards, which will take at the Durban Playhouse on November 12, is to honour and uplift uprising youngsters throughout South Africa in music, television, and radio.

On talking about his nomination, Gwala said that being nominated means a lot to him because it shows that his work is being recognised by South Africans.

“To be a nominee means a lot to me and it’s a great experience for me because it’s giving me courage to be the greatest I can be,” he said.

Gwala appealed to the community to vote for him, saying “I would like people to vote for me if they want to see me shining as their underground poet because, if you vote as much as you can, I bet you I will win this award and those who will truly vote, one day when they see me on TV, they will be pretty sure that they are the ones who put me there,” he said.

“I would like people to support underground artists no matter what because even those that are successful today started here so, if you truly want see me shining, please don’t hesitate to vote for me,” Gwala said.
