MAIN SPAR and TOPS in Sandy Centre Pinetown, which the community has grown to love, is celebrating its first birthday this month.

MAIN SPAR owner Grant Nicholls said: “The store was originally a bakery called Ladybake, however, it converted to KWIKSPAR in 2000.KWIKSPAR was a small convenient store that became popular with the community, with the focus on the bakery.

“In November 2012 the new owners of the KWIKSPAR and Sandy Centre decided to revamp the store and the centre, which took a year in the planning.”

The plan was approved in November 2014, and in March 2015 it was converted to a Spar.

Grant went onto say: “We try to support our local community in the immediate area with either food or hamper sponsorships. Our regular community projects we are involved with include Hope House Children’s Home, St Clement’s Home Based Care in Clermont, KZN Celebral Palsy in Pinetown, Browns School, Pinetown Boys’ High School, Pinetown Junior Primary, Pinetown Methodist Church, Highway Aged and many churches, schools and NGOs.

“We offer a fully operated in-house bakery, take-away and deli, a full-time sushi bar, smoothie bar, large produce section, Lotto section, money transfers, bill payments, Tops liquors and four in-store ATMs - FNB, Absa, Standard and Capitec, and we provide great service and the friendliest staff in Pinetown.”

MAIN SPAR has special customer days every week. “Mondays is Milk Sachet day, Tuesday is Senior Tea Day, Wednesday is Happy Hour from 4pm to 6pm at Tops, Thursday is Market Day, Friday is Half-price Sushi Day, Saturday is Butchery Day and Sunday is Milk Tart Mania Day,” says Nicholls.

MAIN SPAR is open Monday to Saturday from 6.30am to 8pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 7am to 8pm.

Grant wanted to thank his community for the continued and growing support of this neighborhood store.
