A 35-year-old man from Hammersdale was arrested by members from Pinetown Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS) last week for the alleged rape of two children in the Inchanga area.

On Saturday, September 8, two cases of rape were reported at Inchanga Police Station. The victims in both cases claim to have been raped by the same suspect on the same day.

According to police, in the first incident, a 10-year-old boy was walking from the tuck-shop when he was called by a man who was driving a marked company vehicle. The man asked the boy to show him directions to the Roman Catholic Church.

SAPS communications officer Colonel Thembeka Mbele said: “The boy got into the truck with the man and they drove [in the direction of the church], but when they got to the place he was asking for, the suspect drove past and stopped in a deserted area where he allegedly raped the boy. After he raped the boy, he dropped him off where he picked him up from.

“After he had dropped [off] his first victim, he went to another yard where two children were playing. He took a six-year-old girl and also allegedly abused her. He forced her to have oral sex with him and, when he was done, he asked the girl to spit his semen onto her panty and took it away with him,” Mbele said.

Both victims described the same man to the police.

Preliminary investigations led the police to a company in Hammersdale where they got all the details of the person who was driving that particular company car on that day. He was subsequently arrested and is expected to appear at the Pinetown Magistrate Court soon. — Supplied.
