THE Sunflower Fund, in association with RBS Yamaha, and in conjunction with the KZN Motorcycle Federation are encouraging bikers, motorcycle clubs and outdoor enthusiasts to join in the 2017 Sunflower Fund Ride4Hope campaign and ride for a worthy cause. The event is held in Cape Town, Johannesburg and Durban and is specifically related to the organisation’s biggest national campaign - “Sunflower Day” - celebrated on the third Friday of September annually. The mass breakfast ride is scheduled for Sunday, October 1, starting at 9.30am sharp from the NPN Auto Centre (Shell Garage) on the corner of St John’s Avenue in Pinetown to the Shongweni Farmers’ and Craft Market. In addition to this year’s event, the KZN Moth Motorcycle Association and the Durban Harley Owners’ Group has pledged its support. Registration is a donation of R80 per person and the first 200 entries will receive a commemorative cloth badge and a 2017 Sunflower Tope (Tube of Hope) as well as complimentary coffee from NPN Wimpy or NPN Torrador between 8am and 9.15am. Food and drinks will be on sale after the ride and a raffle and giveaways will form part of the prize giving. Funds raised from the mass ride will enable The Sunflower Fund to create awareness as well as educate and recruit more blood stem cell donors to increase the number of people registered on the South African Bone Marrow Registry (SABMR) and offer the hope of life to someone suffering from a chronic blood condition like leukaemia.
