Money for the king

2017-04-25 07:40

I READ with shock that the king’s trust will receive R58,8 million of taxpayers’ money for the financial year.

We cannot get potholes fixed, streetlights repaired, the CBD cleaned and secured, parks maintained, street markings painted, the police and fire departments don’t have enough vehicles and the list goes on and on, and yet ratepayers have to support a king whom only some people recognise.

He is certainly not my king so why does my tax money go to supporting a lifestyle that I cannot even afford?

A suggestion — those who recognise him as their king can contribute to his trust and lavish lifestyle. Perhaps that way there will be enough money in the coffers to maintain things that the taxpayers actually pay towards.
