NOT having enough resources to pursue his dream of being a musician did not stop Sifundo LaFuze Ngcobo from releasing his first album Imali Iyazenza Izinto, which loosely translated means Anything is possible if you have Money.

Ngcobo said that he started his career as a musician in 2004 where he was part of a group called Seven Years Male Band. The group sang gospel music.

“Being part of the group was good but, as the years went by, I thought that I have matured enough and I should sing what I’m comfortable with, which was Afro Pop,” he said.

Despite Ngcobo branching out as a solo artist in 2015, he said: “Gospel music will always be my home as I started by singing it when I came into the music industry.”

Of his first album, Ngcobo said he faced some challenges in the industry.

“Not having a manager or transport to move around and promote my music has been the most challenging thing, also people not showing up to events where you are supposed to be performing at is very disappointing,” he said.

Ngcobo said he takes these challenges as a learning curve, as there’s no easy way to success, but you have to sweat and keep on pushing.

“These challenges encourage me to do even better, rather than giving up, because, if I give up, I’ll never be able to fulfil any of my dreams,” explained the Afro pop singer.

The musician said he’s going to release another album in November, called Umcabuzo, which will feature his former group Seven Years Male Band.

In conclusion, he said his message to the youth is: “You have to be patient with everything you are doing because success doesn’t happen overnight, it takes time.”
