THE Cluster Commander of eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster, Major General James Sayer, recently welcomed 27 new constables to the crime-fighting team of the cluster.

The 27 constables are some of those who recently graduated from SAPS academies across the country.

“This cluster is privileged to receive such young and healthy officers,” said Sayer.

The new officers signed a copy of the South African Police Service Code of Conduct, whereby they made a commitment to create a safe and secure environment for all people in South Africa.

Eight officers will be deployed at the Pinetown SAPS, four will be deployed at KwaDabeka SAPS, two will be deployed at Hillcrest SAPS and the remaining 13 will be deployed at Umsunduzi SAPS.

The management of the SAPS in the eThekwini Inner and Outer West Cluster emphasised the importance of discipline in the organisation and the importance of prioritising service delivery to the community. Chairperson of the community board, Mr Sibhaca, warned the new constables to stay away from corruption and encouraged them to work hard with dedication and vigilance while serving their communities. — Supplied.
