SWAZI’ELIHLE Performing Arts, an NGO, invites the public to its two-day event at KK Hall in KwaDabeka on Friday December 8 and Saturday December 9.

The first event is a workshop for artists in the community.

Swazi’elihle spokesperson Sphelele Hlengwa said: “The workshop is themed Artists Dialogue Sessionwhere musicians, poets, actors, stage performers and everyone in the entertainment industry will share the challenges faced in the entertainment industry. We will also advise how to stay focused in this industry, and a whole lot more.”

The second event is themed Iskomplazi Ikhaya Lami, where people will showcase their talent.

“This event is basically a talent show and will see talented youngsters in and around Durban doing what they do best.

“We have a line-up of musicians, poets and dancers and we ask the public to come and enjoy themselves and experience township talent.”

Swazi’elihle’s promotes a culture of open dialogue and health debates, to nurture and develop young artistic talent primarily from KwaDabeka and Clermont as well as foster a culture of human rights, respect and oppose all forms of discrimination.

“We plan community events and do film as part of developing our community.

“The organisation also has different projects, the Under Age Dreamers which focuses on dramatic arts, Swaz’elihle the Musical, which specialises on a cappella and Senzi and Sphe, who are gospel artists groomed by the organisation.”

Entrance for both events are free so he asks the community to come in numbers. Both events start at 9am running until late.
