No confidence in Zuma

2016-02-09 06:00

AFTER his January 8 statement, President Jacob Zuma stated in a televised interview that “we” carefully considered the removal of Nhlanhla Nene.

However, when the nation was addressed he stated that the decision was his. This was supported by the fact that the ANC’s NEC knew nothing of Zuma’s poor decision. The temporary appointment of David van Rooyen cost South Africa R500 billion. This loss was comprehended by Zuma as the “markets overreacting”.

Zuma believes that all in the ANC will forever be subject to his megalomania —the cracks in the ruling party are very real. Cosatu’s Sdu Dlamini has already declared that the ANC will be taken to the streets for the new tax legislation that hurts workers.

Then there are power struggles noticed at provincial and Msunduzi level.

The hypocrisy is that the ANC parliamentarians are in agreement with the DA’s motion of no confidence in their Gupta-aligned leader, but they cannot afford to support a rational motion as they are reliant on Zuma for their pay cheques and catering and other tenders in Parliament.

The DA is rightfully calling for a vote of no confidence in Zuma’s capability to rule.

The DA’s motion is significant as it will sound a real message to South Africans and the global village that South Africans are aware of ANC inefficiency and Zuma is unfit to govern.
