HILLCREST Aids Centre Trust (Hact) honoured its gogos at their Graduation Ceremony held on Friday, October 26 at Michael Gwala Hall, Inchanga.

Hact is a multifaceted, non-profit organisation that serves people impacted by HIV by providing unconditional love and hope in a practical, sustainable way.

At the ceremony, Hact honoured the gogos who have uplifted and empowered themselves and their communities in 2018.

In addition to honouring three deserving gogos and gogo groups, the three most productive community vegetable gardens were also recognised on the day,

Additionally, over 60 local grandmothers who completed a six month sewing course through Hact over the course of 2018 were awarded with certificates of completion.

Marketing and fundraising spokesperson Rebekka Stredwick said that they are celebrating the gogos who’ve shown a great deal of dedication over the last six months.

Of the graduates, Stredwick said: “It’s such an honour seeing them this happy because they’ve worked hard to be where they are today.

“These gogos will now be able to provide for their families with the skills they’ve acquired from the sewing course,” she concluded.
