A PENSIONER is lucky to be alive subsequent to her home being broken into in Rock Road, Waterfall last week. According to Hillcrest SAPS public relations officer Steven King a man entered the property and surprised the home owner who is an elderly pensioner.

He threatened to kill her on several occasions during the robbery. He took her walking stick and beat her at the back of her head with the metal side which is in the form of an eagles head causing a big gash.

King said that the man fled the scene with two cellphones, a laptop and the pensioner’s glasses.

The man is about 5ft9 , round face, no facial hair, big eyes, very dark skin wearing a very dark blue anorack with a hoody over his head.

Police are appealing to anyone with information to contact them on 031 765 9100.
