THE South African Society of Physiotherapy (SASP) called physiotherapists nation-wide to gather people and at 12pm on Friday 8 September, to lunge together for exactly one minute.

The aim was to not only to break a Guinness Book of Records’ record for the most number of people lunging at the same time, but to call for safer streets and open public spaces for people to exercise, walk, run or play an informal game of soccer, freely and without any sense of fear.

A total of 23 Hillcrest residents, including a team from Curves, Kyle Watridge of Revolution Fitness and staff from various doctor’s practices in the Hillcrest Medical Centre (HMC), joined Debbie Cameron Physiotherapists and lunged across HMC to the surprise and delight of bystanders. After the one minute of lunging, the Debbie Cameron Physiotherapy team invited the participants to enjoy some delicious brownies, muffins, sandwiches and bottles of water donated by Curves.

It was a fun and informative lunch break for all involved.- Supplied
