THE Wave Park (formerly Wave House) as it is now known, one of Gateway’s premier entertainment sections in the mall, is under new ownership and with new ownership comes a shaking of the tree and new ideas and concepts for the entertainment plan going forward.

The new owners have engaged well known entertainment personality and one time owner of the Pumpkin Theatre, Danny Fisher to run and conceptualize the whole new programming for the Marquee venue now part of the Wave Park.

Whilst there is certainly still the “ family entertainment side” with kids activity, night markets and the like, Fisher is doing what he knows best: live entertainment and the large and comfortable marquee area with its tables and chairs, will follow the recipe of “theatre” and “ live entertainment venue” under his able and expert guidance .

The first of the shows at the venue on April 12 and 19 (R100 a ticket from WEBTickets) is a tribute show which ought to entice an enthusiastic following of music lovers with exceptional taste for the classics!

In the Flesh is a six piece rock band taking to the stage to pay tribute to Pink Floyd, Wish you were here concert and with Dulcie Erasmus - keyboards/vocals,Neil Ford – bass,Grant Halliday – drums,

Steven Squier - guitar/vocals,Ross Tapson - guitar/vocals and Martin Sigamoney – Saxophone, music lovers need very little more to assure them of a superb performance “ as close as dammit”

These musicians, with a reputation for audacity have taken up the gauntlet.

The show has been causing a sensation, playing sold-out performances in Durban, Richards Bay and Pietermaritzburg thus far.

Pink Floyd’s music, apart from one or two well-worn standards, is too complex and diverse to be easily recreated in a local context, so to set out to do so is quite audacious.

This group of veteran Durban musicians, all musical veterans’ musicians live and work in Durban, and individually and collectively enjoy the respect and affection of audiences and peers alike.

Undoubtedly Durban, one of your favourites will be performing on this stage

Tickets are R100 per person and available pre booked from WEBTickets so don’t leave it too late as seating is limited at this venue.

Food and drink will be available for your purchase so bring enough cash for the occasion.
