KLOOF and Highway SPCA inspector, Petros Simamane, is warning the community not to keep their dog or dogs on chains as this is illegal and can lead to their death.

This warning comes after he received a call about a dead dog in the area.
Simamane found a Pitbull had strangled herself to death with her chain while trying to escape from a property in the Upper Highway area. “The area was dismal in which she was confined,” he said.

Simamane knocked on their door and informed the family their dog was dead.

“We await witness statements to strengthen the case of animal cruelty, which will laid against the owner.
“The SPCA understands that there may be situations where it is necessary to chain your dog temporarily, but the precautions must be made.” - Supplied.
