Pupils mugged in Kloof, one hurt

2017-06-27 06:01

PARENTS, pupils and teachers are vigilant after two pupils were mugged while walking to school from the Kloof Shopping Centre last week.

According to SA Community Crime Watch spokesperson Steven King, the boys were accosted by three men who stole their phones.

Unfortunately, one of the pupils was hurt during the incident.

"This was a very nasty incident and we want to appeal to the public to report any suspicious persons, vehicles or strange activity to the local SAPS and SACCW.  It is very important that one keeps vigilant and aware of your surroundings at all time.

"Children have especially become huge targets as criminals know that most teens are in possession of smart phones, Tablets , cash, and so on. Children should avoid walking on their own and should at all times stay in groups.
“We would like to thank the role players who took part in the search for the suspects and ask that if anyone witnessed the incident to come forward and help with a description of the suspects.
“SACCW wishes the youngster a speedy recovery."

Kloof High principal Mrs Dawn Leffort advised pupils to be vigilant and avoid walking around in the area.
"Do not walk in the area unless you are in a large group," she said.
