HILLCREST High School pupils put on a play based on an adaptation of Terry Pratchett’s Carpe Jugulum (Seize the throat), an action-packed comedy adventure.

Head of drama, Mrs Georgina Giorko, was proud of her cast and said they had “an absolute blast” and were sad to see it end.

“The most challenging part of putting the play together was making sure everything came together at the end - costumes, set, sound and lighting - and come together it certainly did.

“Audience feedback was excellent, with many saying it was the best show they had seen in years.

“The sets were phenomenal and a huge thanks to Lucy Baxter and Michelle Gerber who did set construction and Frances Konigkramer who did all the artwork.”

She also praised the main actors for their Oscar-worthy performances - Nanny Ogg, played by Alexandra Pretorius, Bridget Jeffery (Agnes Nitt), Jeneveev Da Costa(Perdita), Amy Le Roux (Granny Weatherwax), Joshua Coetzer (Count), Jessica Ninow (Countess), Dylan Swanepoel (Vlad), Stacey Walker (Lacrimosa), Breez-Tae Morrell (Magrat Garlick) and an especial star performance by Jonathan Wright (Igor).

“Congratulations to the whole cast and crew, the play took five months to get to performance level and all their hard work paid off,” added Giorko. - Supplied.
