AS the hustle and bustle of the festive season increases, shoppers are easy targets for remote jammers.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Captain Linzi Smith said reports of remote jammers targeting malls in the Upper Highway area have come in.

“We have received many reports of remote jamming, however, it is difficult to catch the perpetrators as they move around. The most important tip is to make sure your motor vehicle is properly locked before leaving it.

“Do not leave laptops, cellphones, bags and cash visible on the seats - lock them in the boot. Be aware of your surroundings as criminals are waiting to strike. Let us work together to fight this crime.” Smith is calling on the community to work with the police and report loiterers in parking lots.

SAPS can be contacted on
10111 or the Hillcrest SAPS on 031 765 9134 or 031 765 9106.
