HILLCREST SAPS commemorated World Aids Day on Friday December 1, with a candle lighting ceremony and talk at the Hillcrest Methodist Church last week.

Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Captain Linzi Smith said: “We had a small service and Bongi Dlamini from Hillcrest Aids Centre spoke to us about Aids and the devastating statistics of the illness. We also offered Aids testing after the service.”

Smith said people need to be more aware of the disease. “Our community needs to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV.

“Let us break the silence,” she added.
