NO matter what the outcome of Saturday’s Currie Cup final, fans of the Cell C Sharks will get a chance to meet many of their heroes up-close-and-personal at the annual STIHL Sharks Trail Adventure at the Summerveld Estate on Sunday, December 2.

The family-orientated day includes four MTB races and two trail runs, all based around the leafy Summerveld equestrian complex, catering for athletes for all abilities, with the serious runners targeting the 18km trail run and the MTB pros keen to win the prestigious 40km STIHL MTB Marathon, won by Andrew Hill last year.

At the other end of the spectrum, the iconic mascot of the Cell C Sharks, Sharkie, will be on hand to start the short and easy Kids Ride at 11am, where parents are encouraged to accompany their youngster from start to finish.

Runners and riders in all the races will be met on the finish line by members of the Cell C Sharks squad, who will be handing out cold drinks to all the finishers and who will be happy to pose for photos, selfies and sign autographs.

“This comes at a great time in our year when we have caught our breath after the Currie Cup campaign, and we can devote quality time to meeting and interacting with our fans.” said Novashni Chetty of The Sharks marketing team.

“It is one of our ways to say ‘thank you’ to our fans for their support, and to add that we are looking forward to seeing them at our home games next year,” she added.

“This day is built around families, which makes it even more important to us,” she added. “It comes at the start of the December holidays, and we enjoy contributing to the importance of the family unit.”

The event winds down with live entertainment in the shade of the Summerveld estate, where family members can browse for Christmas gifts at the Shongweni Farmers Market stalls and enjoy a range of food and drink offerings.
