NETCARE 911 paramedics and their rescue unit were called to a mountain in Shongweni for a female who had slipped on a path and injured her ankle.

Paramedics said that a group of people was going up the mountain to pray when the elderly lady slipped and fell on the rugged path.

“The rescue officer arrived at the scene and had to hike about 800 metres up the mountain with a specialised rescue stretcher and medical equipment.
“Once the ambulance crew clambered up to their location, they secured the patient onto the stretcher, and then carried her down the mountain.
The patient was then loaded into an ambulance and taken to hospital,” said Chris Botha Media Liaison Officer - Netcare 911.
