Stop supporting beggars

2018-04-17 06:02

THE problem of beggars persist and SAPS and Metro police have requested that the public stop giving the beggars money – they ask how is that going to promote a decent future for the beggars?

The following is quoted verbatim from a social worker in Cape Town: “To the person who just gave a R10 note out of their window at a robot to the lady with a baby in a pram, I would just like to say that you have absolutely no idea that you have just given towards incentivising that so-called mother to come out again tomorrow, with that baby in the sun.

“Really, we are struggling with the community to give more wisely. Please stop giving at the robots.

“You want to give because you feel guilty but just think further than your moment of glory and satisfaction.

“In the bigger scheme of things you are not helping.” SAPS have confirmed that most of the beggars are on drugs and by giving to them you have just added to their fix for the night.

SAPS joins me in pleading with the public to stop giving to the beggars.
