Students must budget responsibly

2017-05-30 06:00

EFF students have petitioned a local supermarket to drop the price of milk and bread for them, presumably because they are not financially well off.

That is understood but if one goes to all the fast-food and alcohol outlets in any area near an institute, they are frequented in the main by students funded by NSFAS!

Will the students move on to demand that booze and fast foods be sold to them at reduced prices too?

The piles of litter in the university surroundings are a sad indictment on the students.

To the students: campaign for #LitterMustNotFall and focus on what you are on campus for — to earn your qualification the hard way and become responsible and contributing young South Africans.

The days of freebies and entitlement are over.

Budget your money responsibly and milk and bread will be affordable.

Protests and marches don’t always bring positive outcomes.
