Suspects arrested for house robbery

2018-06-05 06:00

THREE men were arrested after they broke into a house in Everton Road on May 19.

According to Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Captain Linzi Smith, on the morning of May 19, three men entered a premises in Everton Road, held up and tied up a family.

“A laptop, jewellery and a cellphone were stolen. All three suspects were wearing balaclavas.

“After leaving that house they proceeded to another house just around the corner in Madeline Road and attempted the same.

“Both victims fought with the suspects and also managed to press their panic button. They still, however, managed to take jewellery and two cellphones.”

Smith said that with the SAPS and the assistance of the Metro Dog Unit, local security companies, the neighbourhood watch and the community, two of the three suspects were apprehended and all the property that was stolen in the first house robbery was recovered.

“All members involved are to be commended for their dedication and commitment for the outstanding work and effort.

“With this kind of assistance from these role-players and the community, together we can all try to fight crime.

“It was great to see such amazing teamwork from all involved,” she said.
