Time to step aside

2016-10-18 06:00

I HEARD that Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan says he will not resign, but logic dictates that the minister must do the honourable thing and step aside.
He is facing serious allegations and the country cannot afford to have the Treasury run by a person facing such allegations.

I am in no way claiming the minister is guilty of anything, but the interests of the country and Treasury are more important than his.

Those close to Gordhan say he is a man of unquestionable integrity and this is an excellent opportunity for him to clear his name.
The matter has dragged on for a long time at the expense of our economy. It is time for this matter to be resolved once and for all.

I want to warn those who criticise the Hawks that what they are doing is uncalled for.
We are all equal in the eyes of justice, regardless of race, gender, religion or standing, and law enforcers should be able to carry out their responsibilities without intimidation.
