IT’S time to lace up your running shoes, and step out in support of Durban’s elderly.

The Association for the Aged, (Tafta) calls on sport and fitness enthusiasts, as well as families to join in its annual Tail Run event.

This fun-filled experience allows participants to make their race count by doing a good deed while achieving their workout for the day.

The event, which echoes Tafta’s mission to “Inspire Active Ageing” takes place on Sunday, November 19, at Virginia Bush Nature Reserve, and provides the public an opportunity to make a valuable difference in the lives of needy senior citizens through their participation.

“We are thrilled to present this exciting opportunity to the public and encourage them to support our mission to inspire active ageing.

“This unique trail run event offers runners of all ranks a different type of opportunity to celebrate their health and fitness, build community, and have a whole lot of fun with their friends while supporting a good cause,” says Tafta CEO Femada Shamam.

The event promises to be exhilarating, offering runners with an appetite for adventure, a picturesque eco- route.

Participants can choose to compete in the four kilometre at a cost of R50 or eight kilometre at a cost of R80.

All proceeds will contribute towards providing a three-course meal to Tafta elders over the festive period.

Pre-registration can be completed at and on-the-day registration begins promptly at 5:45am. The race is scheduled to begin at 7am from Virginia Preparatory School.
