THE popular 3 Falls Trail Run which will take place in Kloof in August will have a dual meaning this year, as funds raised will be used for the improvements of the Conservancy.

The improvements will include a new picnic site at Kloof Falls Road, as well as a new guard hut, a toilet for disabled persons and general improvements to the parking and picnic area.

The Chairman of Kloof Conservancy, Paola Candotti said their goal is to raise R80 000 from this year’s event.

“The event is organised by volunteers, so every cent from the entry fee is

This year’s funds are being used to upgrade the Kloof Falls Picnic site where the parking area has been enlarged, fencing erected and the area improved.”
Candotti said that people shouldn’t be fooled by the relatively short distance of 18,5 km because it is a tough event, however, with a beautiful scenic route which is most enjoyable.

“We are sticking to our well-tested formula and keeping the event simple. We want runners to enjoy being in nature,” said Candotti. Candotti said that the event will be highly competitive with some top runners participating and a full field of 300 runners.

“We are busy doing extensive trail repairs and installing a number of erosion prevention measures so the trails will be in top condition for the event in August,” said Candotti.

However, Candotti said: “Those who want to be part of the event should register early because entries are limited to 300 runners. We only take online entries on our website and the entries open on May 1.” Candotti said that prizes are a big drawcard to this event and it’s all about participating and finishing.

“We do have great mini-trophies for the winners which are handmade by local craftsmen.

The top three finishers in the men and woman events will also get photo-album vouchers from Burblepix”, Candotti said.

The community is encouraged to put on their running shoes and make a difference at the Conservancy.
