Train your brain

MOST of us are so incredibly worried and focused on what we eat that we fall into the ‘live to eat’ rather than ‘eat to live’ lifestyle, and it becomes a stress factor.

This sound familiar?

The failure to address the direct link between eating and the mind has lead to the assumption that “lack of willpower alone is the only cause of eating too much”.

We know what it means to be strong-willed but how do we do change our mindset in order to sustain a healthier eating regime? O

ften, when we attempt to start a new lifestyle, we inevitably revert back to our old habits due to the ingrained continual biofeedback of social media, television, magazines and newspapers. We are constantly influenced by visuals that resist everything we are trying to be strong-willed about.

If you do not learn to re-programme your mind alongside your workout programme, you’re probably going to fail long term.

In practice, when we make choices about what to eat, we somehow get caught between the mindset voice and making the right choices voice.

The mindset voice is classified as a ‘thinking error’ and can be changed! Thinking Errors increase stress and anxiety levels, and can result in actions which become self- defeating, like overeating.

Recognizing, and learning how to control them, prevents you from sabotaging your own success. “You must learn a new way to think before you can master a new way to be” — Marianne Williamson.

THERE ARE THREE SOLUTIONS TO THINKING ERRORS

1. Mentoring — One of the most supportive strategies to get back into and maintain a new healthy lifestyle

2. Food inventory — Helps to pinpoint what you eat and why

3. Physical Activity
