HILLCREST SAPS are warning motorists that vehicle theft from medical centres and sports clubs in the area is increasing.

Captain Linzi Smith Hillcrest SAPS communications officer said criminals are targeting vehicles that have “fewer security features”, such as the older models that are easier to steal.

She said such vehicles might be used to commit other crimes and because there are many on the road they are difficult to track.

She urged motorists to always check if their cars are locked and parked in a secure area.

“Motorists need to be careful where they park, make sure their cars are locked and if possible, invest in visible anti-theft devices.”
