THE Waterfall Conservancy is teaming with the community to clean-up Cumic Park.

Volunteers will pick up litter, clean the grounds, trim overgrown trees and scrubs and weed, when necessary.

Patricia Bezuidenhout of the conservancy said the goal is to keep the park useable and in good condition and asked the community to assist.

A member of the Waterfall community, who assists with the clean-ups, said she is eager to put on her gloves and boots to help the conservancy for the clean-up.

“These regular clean-ups are a great idea. We cannot rely on the municipality to clean the park for us. It is our community and we should take ownership of it.

“Another reason I assist in this clean-up is that it's good for children to get outside and play and socialise, and that's not heard of anymore. If we keep the park clean, our children can make use of it.”

Residents who want to assist the Waterfall Conservancy are asked to be at Cumic Park, Link Road, Waterfall on Saturday 15 October at 8am.
