DURBAN resident Yolanda Sokhela is one of the Women’s Health Next Fitness Star Finalist which is hosted by the Women’s Health Magazine.

According to the Women’s Health website The Women’s Health Next Fitness Star is a nationwide search for South Africa’s next fitness celebrity – a woman who has the personality, creeds, training mantra and inspirational 'fitspo' story to help other women fall in love with fitness and learn to celebrate their bodies in the process. The goal is to find unsung heroes – devoted trainers, coaches and teachers who are changing lives every day, one client at a time – and give them the platform to share their inspirational message with the Women’s Health audience. The competition celebrates strong, healthy women as role models and shows the public that fitness and health are accessible to everyone.

Yolanda Sokhela urged the public to vote for her as the Women’s Health Next Fitness Star.  “I have entered the next fitness women’s health competition, whereby people get to vote for you to win and be on the cover of the magazine. The Next Fitness Star will also star in her own fitness feature in Women’s Health, host a class at Fit Night Out, become a Women’s Health and Adidas ambassador for a year and receive Supashape products for a year.”

“I am a self-employed group fitness instructor and a personal Trainer. I am also a mother to two lovely boys who are in high school and involved in sport namely rugby, soccer and swimming. I describe myself as a dynamic, self-motivated and eloquent teacher and a leader.”

Sokhela who has made to the top 10 began gym in her hometown in Clermont. “I started from the dusty township gyms to sharing the stage with the world’s leading fitness experts such as China Makaila who is Botswana's finest, the internationally renowned Shaun T of Insanity workouts at South Africa’s version of the American Essence Festival. Has led Team KZN (SIQ) to victory at the Top SA Aerobics Competition held annually in Tshwane.”

Sokhela says she is a woman of virtue and an entrepreneur. “I am also a lecturer (HFPA sports academy), group exercise instructor, personal trainer, role model to the youth, Healthy Lifestyle ambassador and fitness trainer for a KZN based PSL football club and consider myself as an overall Super-Woman.”
