Waste removal services resumes

2018-01-23 06:00

WASTE removal services have resumed in all parts of the City affected by the strike of Extended Public Works Programme (EPWP) employees contracted to Durban Solid Waste (DSW).

EPWP workers contracted to the outer west embarked on strike action last week, disrupting waste collection services to a number of areas. However, the issue has been resolved and workers have returned to their duties.

This followed strike action from EPWP employees from the Alice Street Deport, Springfield Depot and those contracted to the inner west which have all been resolved. DSW staff are working around the clock to address waste collection backlogs in all affected parts of the City.

Residents can rest assured that the municipal waste collection service is fully operational and that their waste will be collected. They are advised to put out their waste even if their waste collection day has passed as DSW staff are working tirelessly to address the backlog.

eThekwini Municipality would like to thank the public for being understanding during this time and apologises for any inconvenience caused. - Supplied.
