Water to be restricted

2018-03-06 06:00

NEW Germany, Pinetown and Clermont residents and businesses are to be aware of restricted water on February 28 and February 29.

To allow for the installation of a major water connection on the GO!Durban bus route at the Otto Volek and Dineklman road intersection in New Germany, the Mount Mt Moriah Water Reservoir will be shut down from 6 pm on February 28 to 6 am (a possible extension to 9 am) on February 29.

Mount Moriah services the Wyebank and Berkshire Downs reservoirs, which supply water to most of New Germany, Pinetown and Clermont.

With this shutdown these two reservoirs will not be topped up until the next morning. eThekwini Water Services (EWS) will make every endeavour to ensure that both Wyebank and Berkshire Downs reservoirs are full at the point of shutdown, so as not to affect businesses and residents.

EWS is requesting that those in the area be mindful that there will be a limited amount of water for use over the 12- to 15-hour period and they treat usage as one would do under drought or restriction conditions, so that the water does not run out.
