THE game of Sevens Rugby is fast-paced and exhilarating to watch, demanding tough fitness levels for the seven-man teams. Waterfall College is excited to be hosting the Wembley Sevens tournament on Saturday, May 12 on their growing campus in Hillcrest.

Schools from all over KZN will be converging on the two sports fields, with both senior and junior sevens rugby as well as netball fixtures taking place. To add to the festival atmosphere, there will be refreshment stations selling food and beverages towards the school’s fund-raising efforts.

The following schools are on the log for May 12: Crawford, Grace College, Curro, Trinity House, Reddam, Waterfall College and Wartburg Kirchdorf. Waterfall College has been participating in the Wembley Sevens Tournament since 2011. This well-established annual league is played between smaller independent schools throughout KZN, offering an excellent opportunity for the boys to develop their rugby skills. In 2015, the Waterfall College first team won the Wembley Sevens Tournament trophy, known as the Brackens Trophy. A second sports field has been built on the growing Waterfall Schools campus, enabling a bright future for Sevens Rugby.

Principal Jeanette van der Merwe said: “The Waterfall College Sevens Rugby Day has become a firm fixture on our annual sports calendar. We are very grateful to the parents and sponsors who have supported the growth of this significant event and look forward to welcoming everyone to join in on the day. I wish our boys the very best for their games, in both team success and good fun.”

The annual Waterfall College Sevens Rugby Day promises to be an exciting morning of fast-paced running rugby. Come along and bring the family for a day of action and fun. — Supplied.
