KWAZULU-NATAL is expecting to welcome 850 000 domestic tourists and at least 150 000 international visitors over the festive season. This is according to Sihle Zikalala, the MEC for Economic Development Tourism EA, who addressed the media at a briefing on Thursday.

Addressing the conference following the official launch of the festive season with eThekwini Mayor Zandile Gumede, Zikalala said that, despite the global economic challenges, he was convinced his targets would be reached.

Visitors descending on the local shores and inland attractions are expected to boost the regions coffers by up to 2 billion rand, and this would create and sustain 183 000 tourism jobs.
