COMRADES 2017 had a nail-biting finish with Bongmusa Mthembu grabbing the win with a time of 5:35:34.
He is also the first South African to win the Comrades Marathon more than once since Bruce Fordyce in 1990.
Mthembu, who loves running, said the race is more about a personal achievement than the win.
“It is about having fun, and proving that anyone can do it if you put your mind to it.”
In the women’s race, American long-distance runner Camille Herron returned to South Africa to accomplish her long-awaited goal claiming the title with a time of 6:27:35.
This was her maiden race and she was elated with her win.
