FOLLOWING an appeal in the Hillcrest Fever earlier this month, Upper Highway resident Eric Britz’s dream of some long-awaited independence finally materialised as he was thrilled to accept the donation of a car-rack, and its installation, for his wheelchair.

According to Britz, the donation came via the Embocraft Shop and Training Trust.

“I’m really grateful to those who donated to Embocraft Shop and Training Trust as they were able to use some of the funds to purchase and install a car-rack for me,” he said.

He said he was overwhelmed when Linda Venton, the CEO of Embocraft Shop and Training Trust, told him that he’s going to get the car-rack as the public was generous enough to donate money to the Trust.

“It has made my life much easier because I can now get out of the car without waiting for someone to come and help me,” he said.

Venton said they are really grateful to the Upper Highway community for opening up their hearts and donating money so that they could help Britz.

“This has helped him get a bit of his independence back because he can now get off the wheelchair by himself, then lift it up and put it in the car on his own,” she said.

However, Venton appealed to the public to try sponsor Britz with a lightweight wheelchair as it will help him fully gain back his independence.
