Coastal clean-up on cards for Kouga

2015-09-17 06:00

KOUGA residents will set off to the beach this Saturday - not to swim or relax, but to help clean up the beaches in celebration of International Clean-up Day.

The St Francis Kromme Trust and SANCCOB cleaning efforts will concentrate on the Heritage Eco Centre in Harbour Road, Squid Square at Port St Francis, Boulders Beach at the end of St Francis Drive, as well as the Seal Point Lighthouse and Sunset Rock in Cape St Francis.

“Residents can choose which zone they would like to clean and bags can be collected from marshals at the various points,” says John Suckling from the St Francis Kromme Trust.

The cleaning initiative will start at 10:00.

Jeffreys Bay residents will embark on their cleaning effort from Kabeljauws River Mouth to Paradise Beach from 08:30 to 10:30.

After the clean-up there will be a public braai and local musicians providing entertainment along with an interesting programme to be staged in the parking area opposite Tampa Bay Spur.

All residents are invited to take part in this global initiative and help make a difference to the local beaches.

For more information, contact John Suckling at 082 55 1178 (St Francis Bay) or Gerhardt Fouché at 082 464 3099
