With just over two months to go, the town is buzzing with excitement as it prepares for the action-packed JBay Winterfest set to run from July 8 - 19.

Festival-goers can look forward to all the sporting events from last year, of which a few underwent a few nips and tucks, as well as a brand new surf event.

The festival comprises of the JBay Open ASP Surfing Tournament, the VW Rally, the Music Festival, the Core Downhill Sokkie Jol skateboard event, the Poker Run skateboard event, the Funduro event, the Oakley X-Over celebrity multi-discipline event, the JBay Mountain Bike Open, the Cold Water Swim Classic, the Skins Fishing Tournament, the Flamingo Trail run, the Kite Festival, the VW Rally and the Billabong Junior Series. The highlight of the Winterfest is the JBay Open of Surfing, event six of the Samsung Galaxy Championship Tour. Fanning will be returning to defend his title.

A brand new surf event taking place during the JBay Winterfest is the first contest in the Billabong Junior Series presented by BOS. This three-day contest will take place at Magnatubes and has a waiting period from July 13 - 17.

According to event spokesperson, Brenton Williams, the trail running has changed somewhat this year. “The JBay X Trail Run is a unique and an extreme event, comprising of 60km of trail running in three races over two days. All the races start exactly 12hours apart.”

This exciting new addition will take place from July 11 - 12.

Winterfest spokesperson Brenton Williams is upbeat about this year’s festival. “This is the third year that the JBay Winterfest is taking place and we will be building on the successful event that was held in 2014 that saw up to 45 000 people in Jeffreys Bay,” said Williams.
