Kom skiet ‘appels’ in die Langkloof

DIE appels gaan eersdaags behoorlik in die Langkloof swaai.

Elke eerste naweek van September kom skiet-entoesiaste van reg-oor die Oos- en Wes-Kaap op die plaas Tulpieskraal in Joubertina bymekaar om mekaar die stryd aan te sê – en om ’n appel of twee raak te klits – tydens die Langkloof Skietklub se gewilde Appelskiet-kompetisie. Vanjaar is geen uitsondering nie.

Dié kompetisie is een van die grootste geleenthede wat hulle as klub aanbied en lok mense van George, Humansdorp, Port Elizabeth, Oudtshoorn en omliggende gebiede.

Dié kompetisie is ’n lekker dag vir die hele gesin. Terwyl die erns-tige skuts met groot kaliber-gewere skiet, word die kinders byge-staan om met die .22 te skiet. Die kleiduif-skiet is ’n groot treffer onder die vroulike geslag, en moenie dink dat hulle vir ’n haelgeweer skrik nie.

Daar word onder meer op die volgende aangelê: ’n Appel op ’n riet, teikens met diere op soos hulle in die natuur voorkom, valplate, ’n vlakvark wat op ’n kabel beweeg en ’n springbok met twee ballonne.

Wat die verskillende bane interessant maak, is dat niemand die afstande van die teikens ken nie en niemand mag die afstande met ’n “range finder” bepaal nie. Al die teikens word op ’n afstand van tussen 30m en 300m geplaas.

Borge sal hulle produkte op die dag ten toon stel.

Die Langkloof Appelskiet-kompetisie vind op 5 September vanaf 07:30 by die Langkloof Skietbaan net buite Joubertina plaas.

Die inskrywingsgeld is R150 vir jaggewere, wat middagete insluit en R10 vir .22 skiet vir 10 skote per rondte.

Die dag word deur Wenkem en Trelleborg geborg.
