Nautical Festival gets green light for 2016

2015-06-02 06:56

ONLY weeks after the very successful St Francis Nautical Festival came to an end, the St Francis Tourism committee is hard at work planning for the 2016 festival.

Brian Codling, chairman of the St Francis Tourism committee, confirmed that the success of this year’s festival paved the way for a third event set to take place from April 22 to May 1. This event promises to be even bigger and better.

“With this in mind, St Francis Tourism will develop a new look for our website and tourism map with the support of local businesses and the community at large,” says Codling.

According to Codling, the popularity of the festival can be attributed to the broad mix of events and functions on offer - especially the well-organised sporting events including the Colour Run and the Nautical Festival Fishing Competition.

“The whole community got behind the event and most businesses and shop fronts proudly displayed the Nautical Festival bunting. They furthermore offered specials for the duration of the festival, staged live entertainment or donated prizes for the various competitions,” says Codling.

“Youth groups organised volley ball tournaments, and the food market was a sell-out within two hours.”
