Sea Vista to receive own library

THE Kouga Municipality and the Kouga Wind Farm are taking hands to build a library at Sea Vista, St Francis Bay.

At a special Council meeting on October 12, the Kouga Council resolved to make land available at Sea Vista for a library.

The construction of the library will be funded by the Kouga Wind Farm to the tune of R1,7-million.

All councillors were in agreement that the library should be centrally located to cater for all residents of the greater Sea Vista area.

“We want it to be located as close as possible to the community so that children in particular can visit it with ease,” says Social Services Portfolio Councillor Thandeka Maseti.

Two possible pieces of land were identified. The Council agreed that the library should either be constructed on the same erf as the community hall or on the open erf opposite the hall.

Councillor Maseti applauded the Kouga Wind Farm for its commitment to supporting education through the construction of a library.

“The Council had identified Sea Vista as one of the areas to receive a modular library. The Kouga Wind Farm’s support will make it possible for us to establish a library in Sea Vista and take the modular library to another community where this service is needed.”

Kouga Municipality will be responsible for any rezo-nings, if necessary, as well as the building plans.

As the municipality renders library services on behalf of the provincial Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture (DSRAC), it will further engage with DSRAC regarding the operational requirements of the library
