Sewageand litter flush surfing trials

2015-10-01 06:00

CONTINUED sewage spills, broken glass and litter resulted in the relocation and cancellation of several presti-gious surfing trials and contests - this includes the South African Club Surfing Championships in 2016.

According to André Venter, the chairman of the Nelson Mandela Bay Surfriders (NMBS), after the first heats of the Junior Surfing trials at Kitchen Windows on September, the event had to be relocated to the beach at Checkers in Da Gama Road. This was due to sewage spills and broken glass on the beach that posed a health and safety risk to both competitors and visitors.
