JEFFREYS Bay beauties, sisters Michaela (16) and Eldone Swanepoel (17), have been selected as two of the top 50 semi-finalists in this year’s Miss Teen Commonwealth SA competition.

New to the world of national modelling, these two Nico Malan High School-learners are ready to conquer the world and make a real difference in the lives of others.

“This is a very exciting experience for us,” says Michaela. “Luckily we have a great support system and each other, which makes it all the more fun.”

According to Michaela, she entered the competition because she carries the heart of South Africa and wants to have a positive impact on the lives of the youth in the region.

“I will always try my best and give my all in everything I attempt,” says Michaela.

Eldone says: “This is a massive platform and opportunity for me to help and get involved in the community and the multitude of challenges we face as a country. This experience will equip me with the right skills to inspire and help the youth, as well as communities at large. I want to use this opportunity to be an ambassador for change.

“I am committed to bringing hope and change in the daily lives of ordinary people.”

Semi-finalists are expected to perform a limited amount of pageant activities, including sponsor initiation and charity fundraising.

Michaela supports the Amputee Support Group in Port Elizabeth, while Eldone is an activist for the Healthy Mom and Baby Clinic in Jeffreys Bay.

Supporting the sisters on their journey are sponsors Knight Medical Group and Edge Fitness Clubs.

Residents can support the Swanepoel sisters by either SMSing Michaela Swanepoel or Eldone Swanepoel to 35554. Each SMS costs R3. Alternatively, visit the Commonwealth Pageants South Africa Facebook Page and “like” their photo.

The finalist will be announced on May 2, while the grand finale takes place at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City on September 12.

The winner will have the opportunity to represent South Africa at the Miss Teen Commonwealth International pageant in London in November this year
