Taxi met 15 sitplekke jaag met 50 kinders

AS iemand nie ’n foto geneem het nie, sou niemand dit geglo het nie: 50 ­laerskoolleerders in ’n taxi met 15 sitplekke ingeprop!

Die bestuurder van dié taxi is verlede Woensdag omstreeks 07:30 in Patensie in die Oos-Kaap voorgekeer en het Donderdag in die Hankey-landdroshof verskyn. Hyron Bruintjies (31) is op eie verantwoordelikheid vrygelaat en het weer op 11 Augustus in dié hof voorgekom waar hy ’n boete van R5 000 of ses maande tronkstraf opgelê is.,

Lt. Loaan Steenkamp, bevelvoerder van Patensie se speureenheid, het Woensdagoggend stappe geneem toe hy sien hoe die taxibestuurder met sy kosbare vrag teen ’n hoë spoed “roekeloos” in Fred Ferreira-rylaan ry.

Nadat Steenkamp die taxi tot stilstand kon dwing, het die passasiers begin uitklim

“Vyftig leerders tussen 6 en 12 jaar oud het uit die bussie geklim,” bevestig ao. Gerda Swart, ’n polisiewoordvoerder.

Bruintjies is op die toneel vir roekelose en nalatige bestuur asook vir die oorlaai van ’n voertuig in hegtenis geneem.

Swart sê die bus is nie ’n amptelike skoolbus nie, maar ’n private taxi. Die onderskeie skole waar die 50 kinders onderrig word, is van die voorval in kennis gestel waarna dié skole bussies gestuur het om hul leerders by die Hankey-polisiekantoor vir hul skooldag op te laai.

Brig. Neil Jantjies, bevelvoerder van die Humansdorp-polisiekantoor, het Steenkamp vir sy vinnige optrede geprys en sê die polisie sal voordurend sy rol vervul om te verseker dat die publiek in ’n veilige omgewing leef
