READY, steady, build . . .

The annual Global Leadership Academy (GLA) Trolley Pro for 2016 is picking up speed; the teams are assigned and businesses and learners are thinking up a storm behind closed doors to come up with the most unique ideas for the best looking and fastest trolley in the Kouga region.

Twelve well-known businesses will be lining up at Fountains Mall at 11:00 on April 23 where they will go head-to-head battling it out for top-honours as the winning team of the ultimate trolley race.

Racers need to be tough and fast to get into the finals, as only the top five teams will advance to the last round.

The race will be preceded by a trolley march through the mall and parking area at 10:00.

Pick ’n Pay, competing for the seventh time, will defend their title as race winners, while Tapas Seafood Restaurant will pull out all the stops to once again be named the Best Pit Stop of the day. Tapas also walked away as the overall winner.

Old favourites such as Fountains Mall, Woodlands Dairy, Jeffreys Bay Superspar, True Technologies and Tampa Bay Spur will return to the battle field. Newcomers to the Trolley Pro include Beesland, Renco Chemical Toilet Hire and Slater’s Toy Magic.

The public will be able to vote for their favourite trolley via an SMS-line from April 18 to April 23. The winning class of the best trolley will walk away with a R2 000 voucher from Fountains Mall.

The Kouga Express is the official marketing partner of the GLA Trolley Pro, while Fountains Mall is the event sponsor. The results, as well as photos of the event, will be published in the Kouga Express of April 28.

All funds raised will go towards the building of the new GLA campus.
