HUMANSDORP Dent Removers (HDR), a leading family-owned body shop in the Kouga region, is celebrating a major milestone: 70 years of excellent service to the community and surrounding areas.

HDR in Voortrekker Road, one of the oldest businesses in Humansdorp, was established in 1946 by MJ Koekemoer. Piet de Vos, Koekemoer’s son-in-law, joined the business in 1968 and became the owner in 1975.After being the mainstay of the business for more than 35 years, De Vos retired. Johan Swart, who joined the family business in 1998, became the third owner in 70 years when he took over the reins in 2005.

Swart is supported by his wife, Marie, and their son Rehan, the General Manager, who is responsible for client relations.

“At HDR our number one priority is client satisfaction, as well as the relationship we develop with each one of our customers,” says Swart. “We believe in old-fashioned values and work ethic. This, combined with modern technology, ensures client satisfaction.

“As a company, we strive to give customers high-quality, cost-effective auto body repair and to take care of clients’ needs with compassion and kindness.”

With their highly qualified and experienced team of 28 employees, customers can rest assured that their vehicles will be put back to its pre-accident condition - if not better.

“All craftsmanship is a showpiece of our employees’ skills and the quality of work,” says Swart.

From the establishment of HDR to date, several changes were made to keep pace with the growing needs of the industry. They received a myriad of awards over the last seven decades and is currently the only firm in the Kouga region to use the latest environmentally friendly Spies Hecker waterborne paint.

HDR uses a computerised paint-mixing system which enables them to match a vehicle’s paint colour perfectly - ensuring an exact match to a vehicle’s factory finish.

HDR offers a lifetime warranty on all paint work done and a three year warranty on workmanship. They are the body shop with the highest ranking standard in the area, and has been a member of the Retail Motor Industry Organisation (RMI) since 1987. They have the highest rating level (major structural repairer) of the South African Motor Body Repairers Association (SAMBRA).

HDR is the only company in the Kouga with several factory approvals and is extensively used by all of the insurance companies. Digital application and claims processing is made possible by using the latest technology.

“As we continue to grow, we hope to see new customers along the way and we always look forward to seeing the existing customers that have become like family to us,” says Swart. “We thank everyone for the opportunity to serve this community for the past 70 years. With their support, we look forward to serving the area for many more years to come.”
