THE United Barbarians Rugby Federation Cup (RFC) made history, when they beat the Spring Roses by 26 - 19 in Patensie over the weekend.

“This is the first time since the club’s establishment in 1992, that they triumphed over Spring Roses,” says United Barbarians RFC spokesperson, Thembela Swepu.

Barbarians leading 20 - 0 during the first half, Spring Roses fought back bravely, but was only able to score 19 points in total.

Ronaldo Wentzel (Pampie) was named the Man of the Match.

“We want to thank all the spectators for their support on this historical day,” says Swepu. “We dedicate this day to all our former players who were pivotal in the establishment of the club.

“A big thank you goes out to all our sponsors who made this day possible.”
