WITH temperatures plummeting to new lows, hot coffee and blankets, a cosy fire and thick coats are a must. But for some, the winter cold is the ideal time for a speedo and icy swims.
The fourth JBay WinterFest Cold Water Swim Classic will offer these brave of heart the perfect opportunity to show their mettle and endurance in water bordering on a mere 12°C.
Swimmers can experience the thrill and challenge of swimming a triple mile in sub- 15°C water - wearing only a speedo type costume, goggles and a standard silicone swim cap.
For the faint-hearted who perhaps are just looking for something to keep them busy through winter or want to give cold water swimming a try without going to extremes, there will be a mile and double mile swim.
These swimmers may wear a wetsuit if they choose to.
Only pre-entries will be accepted for the Cold Water Classic that takes place at Marina Martinique at 09:30 on July 16.
