Communities to have their say

2017-04-20 06:01

THE Kouga Council is taking the municipality’s draft Integrated Development Plan (IDP) and draft budget to communities as part of its commitment to transparent governance.

Kouga Executive Mayor Elza van Lingen said residents could either attend the meetings, to be held at all wards, or submit written comments on the draft documents to the Office of the Municipal Manager. The deadline for submissions is at noon on May 9.

The draft IDP for 2017/2022 and draft budget for 2017/2018 were approved by the Kouga Council at the end of March.

“We promised residents that we would be transparent and include them in our processes,” said Van Lingen. “This series of meetings is an opportunity for residents to have a say in how they are governed. We would like to encourage all communities to attend.”
